Abstract:

The authors of this paper have developed a computer object oriented intelligent construction site modeler which is dynamically linked to a 3D CAD system. Model Based Reasoning is used as the structure to represent the site information and, as a result, the modeling system is powerful, flexible, and expandable. The model will initially be used to monitor retaining walls during excavation work. In the future, this model can be used to monitor most aspects of the construction process, ranging from labor management using IC card data to material management using bar code data.
