Abstract:

The use of computers for the design process has reached wide acceptance. The use is developed in several fields such as CAD, CAM or programs for design of structural elements. Recent work has shown the advantages of coupling e.g. CAD and static analysis [Reymendt 1992, Baumgart 1992]. By using object-oriented description of concrete members, this research work will combine as well s geometry description, design and construction of concrete members. The order and relations of members, geometry material and construction-rule will be built up by relations between these objects. Thus, each member is described by an object in the same way as the engineer does in his work. All geometrical, physical, and structural information about real member-objects is stored in the program-objects. The research project combines the design and construction of reinforced concrete members. As a basis code, the new European standard of building concrete structures EUROCODE 2, part 1 is used. The project is part of several works which on the whole represent the object oriented modeling due to planning and construction.
