Designing in Three Dimensions for Manufacturing Facilities

by Richard H. Hendricks, Du Pont Eng, Newark, United States,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Computing in Civil and Building Engineering

Abstract:

Du Pont Engineering is using Three-Dimensional Design for the design of our manufacturing facilities. Our 3D design system was used on several projects in 1992, and full implementation on all major manufacturing projects is planned over the next three years. This paper discusses Du Pont's purpose for 3D design, a high level view of the system, and key implementation factors.
