Abstract:

This paper examines progress made on the Yucca Mountain Site Characterization Project (YMP) during 1992 and continuing into 1993. In addition, it discusses and describes design work on the underground exploratory studies facility (ESF). In 1992, environmental permits were received from the state of Nevada; groundbreaking work began on the ESF; trenches were excavated and test pits were completed; work was completed on the wells; boreholes were drilled.
