Abstract:

Past research on the flow of concentrated cohensinless mixtures have historically emphasized steady or quasi-steady motions while dynamic effects have received little attention in comparison. In an ongoing effort to improve the current understanding, finite height particle beds have been studied under harmonic excitation from tahe lower supporting boundary. The experiments highlight the prevalence of slip at containing boundaries over internal material deformation of the mixture.
