Abstract:

A probabilistic diffusional mechanism for the propagation of intergranular forces has been formulated as a set of three mathematical assumptions. The equilibrium equations are complemented by a separate partial parabolic equation for the vertical stress component. Parameters for the model and some simple solutions are discussed.
