Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Coastal Engineering Practice

Abstract:

The paper presents a case study of foundation design and construction for a pier in Pearl Harbor. The study covers a review of site investigations, laboratory testing, pile selection and a test pile program employing the Pile Driving Analyzer (PDA) and static load testing. Production pile tip elevations for the pier were determined considering the time rate increases in soil-pile adhesion observed during the test program. Emphasis is placed on the indicator and load test pile program and the use of the PDA to supplement static load test data. A project summary and introduction is given along with a general overview of the geology of Pearl Harbor.
