Abstract:

This paper describes the development and application of a new water quality screening model - STEAM (Simplified Tidal Embayment Assessment Model). This model simulates the first-order water quality response of small, semi-enclosed marinas to the external forcing effects of tides, pollutant loadings, and freshwater inflows. STEAM's ease of use makes it an attractive tool for preliminary analyses of tidal flushing in well-mixed boat basins.
