Abstract:

The zebra mussel is a prolific mollusk that has recently invaded the Great Lakes region. It has a proven track record for causing severe macrofouling at power utilities and water municipalities. In early 1990 it was determined that an infestation was possible at the Niagara Power Project. In response, a comprehensive control and mitigation program was implemented to minimize the impact to the internal service water system.
