Abstract:

This proceedings, Electronic Computation, consists of 46 manuscripts presented at the Tenth Conference on Electronic Computation held parallel to the Ninth Structures Congress?1991 from April 29?May 1, 1991 in Indianapolis, Indiana. The theme of the Conference was the introduction and discussion of new concepts related to electronic computation in engineering. These papers covered such topics as the following: 1) Expert systems in structural engineering; 2) computer-based structural analysis and design; 3) dynamic analysis and design; 4) discrete variable optimization in structural design; 5) optimization methods in structural engineering; 6) finite element analysis and design; and 7) parallel processing and object-oriented analysis. The totality of these papers provides an excellent overview of the new trends in electronic computation studies and practices in the engineering professions.
