Abstract:

The diversity of contaminants and contaminated media at the Weldon Spring, Missouri CERCLA site, located about 30 miles west of St. Louis, Missouri, necessitates the formulation of integrated unit process scenarios preparatory to selecting the final remedial action. Studies to date have assessed the remedial potential of a number of media-specific technologies for the Weldon Spring site. Analysis of these studies indicates remedial technologies must be examined as components of a comprehensive remedial strategy. This paper reports evaluation results of individual remedial unit processes and development of potential integrated remedial strategies for the contaminated Weldon Spring Site media. Twenty engineering studies and treatability test reports were reviewed in the evaluation.
