Longshore Transport of Pebbles: Experimental Estimates of K

Abstract:

Three tracer experiments which provide estimates of the coefficient of proportionality (K) for the longshore transport of pebbles in the CERC equation are reconsidered. The values are 7 to 100 times lower than on sand beaches. The limitations of these results and the practical problems of quantitative tracer studies on shingle beaches are discussed.
