Abstract:

In 1985, Liu and Ding (1989) made an experiment of collapsible tubes containing a pulsatile flow. A latex tube is sealed up in a plexiglass chamber. If the transmural pressure (TP) of the latex tube is negative, the tube will collapse. They found that when the tube collapses to a certain extent, the whole tube can oscillate like a simple support beam and called it 'displacement oscillation'. In this paper, we regard the above phenomena as the parametric excitation and reduce the problem to solving the Mathieu equation with damping.
