Abstract:

The seismic response of 2D gravity dam-reservoir-foundation including the wave absorption effect along the reservoir bed is analyzed in frequency domain using substructure approach. The infinite reservoir is modeled by boundary element method using static fundamental solution, in conjunction with a 1D finite element representation of the infinite field. The dam is discretized by finite elements. The foundation soil, idealized as semi-infinite elastic half plane, is modeled by boundary elements.
