Abstract:

Distributed-memory multiprocessing, based on the Inmos transputer, provides orders-of-magnitude reductions in computing time at the lowest cost per MFLOPS. The PARA_LIB runtime library of parallel codes and equation solvers harnesses this affordable power to practical finite element analysis. In addition, finite element evaluation of alternative designs is greatly simplified by Q-MESH, an innovative interactive graphics interface for creating matching multi-region meshes.
