Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: High Level Radioactive Waste Management 1991

Abstract:

To achieve the goal of permanent disposal of spent nuclear fuel and high-level radioactive waste, the U. S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Civilian Radioactive Waste Management (OCRWM) is implementing a Management Systems Improvement Strategy (MSIS). This MSIS is structured around the systems engineering approach that separates the program mission into system and programmatic functions. OCRWM believes that this strategy will significantly improve the program and provide the framework needed to ensure successful implementation of the activities necessary to fulfill the mandate of the Nuclear Waste Policy Act, as amended.
