Abstract:

National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS) require that capacity ratings for each bridge structure be established. This requirement includes timber bridges which are often decayed, have missing members or have other strength reducing defects. In general, existing microcomputer programs are limited to rating bridges without defects or missing members. TIMBRG is a microcomputer program designed to address the above requirements by providing a bending and shear rating for stringers, a bending rating for the deck, a bending and shear rating for the pile cap and an axial rating for the piles. The program is capable of analyzing bridges containing decay or other defects in one or more stringers, the pile cap and any of its piles.
