Abstract:

An overview is presented of international research and development activities in four energy conversion areas: ocean thermal energy conversion (OTEC); wave energy conversion; tidal energy conversion; and current energy conversion. Abundant exploitable ocean energy resources lie in proximity to a large number of countries representing potentially long-term export markets for those nations that successfully develop ocean energy conversion systems.
