Abstract:

Soil-cement has been used as an effective and economical slope protection material for embankment dams and stream banks. This paper describes the use of soil-cement in the construction of urban stormwater drop structures, a relatively new application. In locations where an adequate supply of in-place sandy soil is available, soil-cement offers advantages in terms of economy and aesthetics over other drop structure construction materials. This paper describes the design and construction of seven soil-cement drop structures recently build in the Denver, Colorado, area.
