Abstract:

The motion of the flow with hyperconcentration has its unique law. In this paper, based on the analysis of the motion of the flow with hyperconcentration of sediment and the sediment transport law, a mathematical model of erosion and sedimentation of the hyperconcentrated flow has been established. The system of Saint-Venant equations has been used as the flow equation and the unbalance sediment transport theory for hyperconcentration has been used as the equation for sediment motion so as to make it possible to reflect the law of sediment transport. The model was verified by the data obtained in the Sanmenxia Reservoir of the Yellow River, indicating that there is a relatively high accuracy. The model can be used for determining the erosion and sedimentation of debris flow and volcanic ashes which get into rivers and reservoirs.
