Abstract:

A procedure for developing groundwater pollution potential maps using a geographical information system (GIS) is introduced. The concept of pollution potential mapping is discussed, along with its limitations and available methodologies. Several applications of GIS in groundwater engineering, including pollution potential mapping, are covered herein. An example is given in which the pollution potential methodology, DRASTIC, is automated in a GIS framework.
