Abstract:

A pragmatic data management approach for pre-processing and post-processing of large data sets from numerical models has been applied to a coupled hydrodynamic and water quality model of Peconic Bay (EPA's WASP4 model). The approach is based on an unambiguous real world coordinate description of both observed and model output data records in time, space, and depth. Observed data sets from a number of sources were compiled into a common historical database for characterization of trends and development of a eutrophication model to analyze water quality conditions during the mid-1970s.
