Abstract:

In July of 1988, the US Bureau of Reclamation awarded the University of Colorado a 4 year, 4 million dollar Cooperative Agreement for the development of a Center of Excellence in the Application of Advanced Computer Technology to Decision Making in water management. The result of this award is the Center for Advanced Decision Support for Water and Environmental Systems (CADSWES) housed in the Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering. Joining the University of Colorado as member of CADSWES was the Ralph M. Parson Laboratory at MIT and the Advanced Computer Applications Group at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA).
