Abstract:

The Ute Mountain Ute Tribe, located in the southwest corner of Colorado, agreed to a negotiated settlement of Winters Doctrine Water Rights rather than pursuing litigation. The Tribe will receive, in lieu of Winters Water Rights, water supplies from two Bureau of Reclamation Projects and a cash Development Fund that can be used to construct and operate facilities to utilize the water supplies.
