An Introduction to Pressurized Volumes in Space

by Michael Roberts, NASA/Johnson Space Cent, United States,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Engineering, Construction, and Operations in Space II

Abstract:

Space habitation designers come from diverse backgrounds. As it is human nature to emphasize that which is familiar, habitat design is strongly influenced by the designer's professional background. The purpose of this paper is to provide a uniform approach to space habitation design, by offering an even-handed treatment of the many design issues involved. The nomenclature outlined in this paper should also prove useful as a basis for discussing the merits and deficiencies of particular designs.
