Abstract:

This paper illustrates how a model can be constructed to analyze the growth of accumulated spent Light-Water-Reactor fuel using a technique from systems theory which has proved to be capable of describing with a very high degree of accuracy the growth of both human populations and railways, highways, airports, local government revenues, college enrollments and similar technologies and infrastructural elements. The methods used were developed in papers 'Regulatory Mechanisms in Socio-Technical Systems', 'Growth-A Problem of Cybernetics', and 'Systems Models For Infrastructures'. The coupled nonlinear equations which describe these phenomena have been treated and numerical examples are displayed.
