Abstract:

In the United States, bridges are routinely rated to evaluate their existing conditions. The formula used to evaluate bridges is called the Sufficiency Rating Formula. The formula uses nineteen variables based on the bridge inspection record. The nineteen parameters in this formula are examined and an improved formula is developed using regression and history of bridges in the State of Florida.
