Abstract:

The problem of reducing the seismic risk of existing buildings is tackled, and the most convenient strategies to be followed in planning upgrading interventions are discussed. After summarizing previous works on the subject, a procedure based on dynamic programming is proposed for the optimal allocation of the available resources, under predefined assumptions; a fully developed example illustrates the procedure.
