Abstract:

In this paper, a practical seismic fragility evaluation method for structure and equipment systems is proposed. Structural and equipment failures are considered here, reflecting detailed aseismic design practices of nuclear facilities in Japan. Particular features of the method include responses which are evaluated with stationary random theory, considering soil nonlinearity and soil-structure interaction (capacities are evaluated considering damage concentration effects of multi-degree-of freedom systems). Expected floor response spectra are evaluated as well. Appropriateness of the method was confirmed by several supportive studies.
