Abstract:

The behavior of elastic arch dam reservoir fluid system subjected to ground acceleration excitations has been studied extensively by Chopra and his colleagues. In their studies, the excitations are restricted to a deterministic function of time. This paper extends the deterministic dynamic analysis to a nonstationary random vibration problem. Numerical solutions for the nonstationary power spectral density functions of the displacement of the arch dam are used to study the stochastic system behavior.
