Abstract:

For practical application as well as for sophisticated investigations, the time dependent stochastic wind process has to be simplified in terms of input data to the calculation. Usually, these simplifications for the spatial and temporal distribution involve a loss of information and eventually inhibit a deeper understanding of the wind loading process. A realistic estimate of wind effects by the method of the spectral analysis requires a great amount of statistical data and is limited to linear systems. In this paper, a new method is presented, identifying critical wind load distributions by the correlation structure between the excitation process and the response process. Now, linear and non-linear analysis with a realistic and understandable load process become possible.
