Abstract:

The frequent assumption that small hydro developments are simple is not always borne out in practice. A case in point is the Paradise River Development in Newfoundland, Canada. This paper discusses the geologic and topographic setting of the project, project studies, river diversion, arch dam, supply tunnels and penstock, and other aspects of the subject.
