Abstract:

This paper presents a new approach in rehabilitating open-wheel hydrosites by using modern, standard submersible hydroturbines, open flume type cylinder gates, and high efficiency draft tubes. It also presents the hydraulic model test studies made to establish a numerical open flume model that takes into consideration the geometrical parameters (distance between turbines, depth of flume, submergence of turbine inlet) to determine flow distribution patterns between the turbines.
