Abstract:

A two-component turbulence model is introduced for depth-average flow calculations in shallow open-channel flows. This model treats the bed-generated turbulence as a background component, while models the transverse-shear-generated turbulence using a ?-? model. Good agreement with experimental data is obtained when this model is used to calculate the development of two transverse shear flows of shallow depths.
