Selective Erosion: A Key Problem in Numerical Modelling of River-bed Changes

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Sediment Transport Modeling

Abstract:

In capacity-controlled sediment transport of alluvial rivers the so-called 'hiding factor' determines the stability of the various grain-size fractions. The paper shows the effect of grain-size composition of bed materials on the incipient motion with special regard to the role of laminar sublayer covering the surficial grains totally or partially.
