Abstract:

This paper presents a summary of the development of a prototype advanced decision-support system for operation and maintenance of dams and irrigation facilities. To set the development stage, a description is given as to what constitutes an advanced decision support system. Next the possible benefits of implementing such a system are enumerated, followed by specification of steps taken in the development process. These include problem identification, knowledge engineering, and intelligent database linkages. Finally, potential future developments to the system are discussed.
