Abstract:

This paper presents an overview on the nature, extent and concerns of agricultural salinity problems. The problem of salinity has extended beyond the farmlands, and the practice of saline drainage waters will be discharged somewhere, somehow is being challenged. New and expanded discharge regulations are expected. This paper also gives an overview of the ASCE Agricultural Salinity Assessment and Management Manual that brings together contemporary concepts and management practices for agricultural water and soil salinity problems.
