Abstract:

Multi-span continuous bridges which have been constructed in the Metropolitan Expressway Public Corporation are briefly explained. Some studies were carried out into their behavior. The results of the dynamic response analysis agree fairly well with those of the static analysis. However, further study will be necessary to clarify the seismic design method of the bridge. The SU damper which employs prestressing cables to connect ellastically the superstructure with piers, installed on the bridge is effective in distributing the lateral force due to earthquake and temperature change.
