Abstract:

Fourier series expansion is suggested to discrete the continuous vibrating system by regarding Fourier constants as generalized displacement parameters. The orthogonal merit to the terms in Fourier series expansion is applied to evaluate the flexibility. In the process of flexibility determination, the principle of Lagrangian multiplier method is implemented to satisfy the constraint conditions for an optimum result. Incorporating with determination of the energy bound, Fourier series expansion provides a very convenient approach in displacement bound calculation.
