Abstract:

The Lower Citanduy Irrigation Project in Central Java, Indonesia drains through the estuary called Segara Anakan. Due to sediment accretion, the lagoon is filling. With erosion problems, the rate of filling has increased. The filling has caused flooding and drainage problems in the irrigation area. For the irrigation project to function as designed, the drainage problem must be solved. The Government of Indonesia also wants to save the estuary for the fishing and tourism industry. The purpose of the Segara Anakan Optimum Use and Drainage Study was to propose the means to achieve these objectives. The study was conducted using the USGS hydrodynamic model BRANCH. This paper discusses that model, its data requirements, its use in the analysis, and its verification.
