Abstract:

In recent years, the advent of the flood insurance programs has forced developers, financiers, and planners to deal with future high water conditions and associated risks. A reliable method of estimating lake level developed to compute the risk of submergence to establish planning elevations. Given information on future lake level frequencies, planners can establish reasonable floor elevations, site facilities in less flood-prone areas, and incorporate other design features into a proposed facility which would mitigate possible flood damage.
