Abstract:

A variety of loads affect a nuclear power facility during its lifetime. The magnitudes or intensities of these loads are uncertain, and for some of them, their time of occurrence is also uncertain. For the purposes of evaluating the reliability as well as defining the load combinations for design purposes, herein three load combination approaches have been identified and their applicability examined. These combination approaches are identified as the Load Combination Approach (LCA), Response Combination Approach (RCA) and Probability Combination Approach (PCA).
