Training Requirements for Asbestos Workers and Supervisors

Abstract:

Although the Federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has stipulated that minimum training to be provided to asbestos abatement workers and their supervisors, some states have expanded these requirements. These various training requirements are examined. The specific OSHA training requirements are presented. Comparisons are made with the specific requirements of various states which have promulgated additional regulations related to the training of asbestos abatement workers, asbestos supervisors, or asbestos abatement contractors. This evaluation should be useful in providing insights concerning the trend regarding asbestos-related training.
