Abstract:

Improvements in diving equipment, and underwater testing and instrumentation devices in recent years have increased the value of underwater inspections and reduced the cost. This paper reviews common types of underwater distress, discusses methods of underwater inspection, describes the advantages and limitations of divers, and provides guidelines for the effective conduct of underwater inspections of dams.
