Abstract:

Optimization of wastewater land treatment effectiveness requires current knowledge of the microbiological ecosystem. Environmental parameters must be measured if they are to be adjusted to optimal values. The microorganisms must be monitored to ensure that they are healthy and active. Data commonly collected describing the physical and chemical characteristics of the system include oil content, water content, nutrient concentrations and pH. Various analytical techniques for monitoring petroleum waste land treatment systems are described.
