Abstract:

The microcomputer software system, BRCOM, for the analysis and rating of bridge superstructures is described. The system consists of ten programs written in UCSD P-System FORTRAN, which compute section properties, do force analyses, and compute stresses and load ratings for girder or slab bridges of up to three continuous spans. Stress analysis includes reinforced and prestressed concrete as well as steel, timber, and composite type bridges. Standard trucks are utilized for load rating. The program development was a project of the Rural Technology Assistance Program of the Federal Highway Administration.
