Abstract:

The Deer Creek Dam is proposed to be a concrete face rockfill structure (CFRD) with upstream and downstream slopes nominally 1. 3 horizontal to 1 vertical. The embankment will rise 280 feet (85 m) above the channel of Deer Creek. The reservoir capacity at normal high water level (elevation 6698) will be 65,785 acre-feet (8 multiplied by 10**7m**3). The spillway will be a cascade type spillway located on the left abutment which will also serve as a quarry to produce rockfill for the dam. The outlet works will be at the end of a 10-foot (3 m) circular reinforced concrete-lined diversion tunnel and cut and cover conduit through the right abutment. The dam foundation consists of a Precambrian-age metamorphic complex consisting primarily of gneiss. The project is scheduled for start of construction in the Spring, 1986.
