Abstract:

Salvajina dam is the second highest concrete face rockfill dam currently in service in the world. The characteristics of the foundation of the toe slab vary from fresh, sound and little fractured to intensely weathered rock; such characteristics made it necessary to take special measures in the design of the toe slab and in the treatment of its foundation; other features of design are in accordance with the current practice of concrete face rockfill dams.
