Abstract:

The relative changes in water stage in swamps and marshes and the variations of current velocities in bayous and canals under present conditions are calculated, using a computer watershed model. Results are presented as water surface elevation contours generated graphically by computer software programs. Through model calibration and sensitivity analysis, values of Manning's n are adjusted to fit the model output agreeable with field data. The proposed method will be used to simulate and predict future conditions caused by the extension of an existing levee in a coastal Louisiana wetland.
