Abstract:

The Foothills Project has been under consideration by the Denver Board of Water Commissions for many years. It is one of the major steps in the continued efforts of the Board to provide adequate water service to their service zone of the Greater Metropolitan Area. There are three principal features in the project: (1) Foothills treatment plant; (2) Foothills tunnel and access road; (3) Strontia Springs diversion dam. The papers presented in this volume provide a record of the design and construction of the principal features of the dam. The geology and geotechnical aspects, hydraulic design, and concrete quality control and quality assurance of the dam are also covered.
